Cool Our Troops Goes on the Road to Deliver COOL Relief

July 31, on a one-day notice, in one of their craziest stunts yet, Sue and Susan drove 6 hours to personally deliver 1000 Misty Mates to Marines headed to Iraq from March AFB in Riverside, CA. Misty Mates Owner Steve Utter was kind enough to let us use his truck, but Sue had to do all the driving since Susan doesn't know how to drive a 5-speed! The long drive was well worth it - we were treated like VIPs on base and the Marines applauded our efforts, touched that we were on a mission to Cool Our Troops. (click photos to enlarge)
July 31, 0300, Sue and Susan head through the desert from Phoenix to March AFB. 1030, We arrive on base and follow Robyn to the hangar. We are glad to be here. Marines hold up a banner signed by volunteers and employees of Maryvale Hospital in Phoenix. Marines immediately unload the truckload of MistyMates onto the vehicle with the gear. The sun was hot and the flight deck was bright, but it was only 102 degrees, not bad.

After we distributed the misters, the engineers of the group tried to figure out how they worked. Marines proudly hold up their new Misty Mates as they wait to board the plane for Iraq.   Sue and Susan were thrilled when they saw 1st Sergeant Jobe again. He was happy to see them too. Once the Marines got their Misty Mates given to them by Cool Our Troops and the March Canteen, they started being very inventive with them. One Marine in particular wanted to see how the M isty Mate worked. He was taking it apart when the water shot out and hit a Marine in front of him in the face. Needless to say, we think more than one water fight will break out with the Misty Mates and hopefully smiles and some laughter too.

So, after seeing the Marines board the plane, and after a short break in the Canteen, Sue and Susan left the base, happy they made the long drive. Happy that they'd given a little COOL relief. The sunset that night was beautiful, reminding us of God's miracles and blessings.
